Defining the Award

It is an annual award aiming at encouraging national and international achievements offered by government bodies, civil society institutions, international corporations, private sector and individuals that contributed remarkably and effectively to enhancing the values of moderation, coexistence, tolerance and cultural communication with others, and preserving national identity and strengthening the national character, which the King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication seeks to cultivate within the society.

Objectives of the Award

The award targets works and contributions that represent a qualitative addition and leave a clear and tangible impact in promoting the following values:

Contributing

to the achievement of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Highlighting efforts

that promote the values of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence and preserve national identity and character.

Cultural communication

with the world in a way that enhances the external perception of the Kingdom.

Preserving national identity

and character and strengthening the social fabric.

Spreading the values

of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence within society.

Promoting a culture

of intellectual and human dialogue and cultural exchange between cultures.

Motivating government

agencies, civil society organizations, the private sector, international organizations, and individuals to adopt or support programs that promote the values of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence and preserve national identity.

Scope of the Award

The award targets works and contributions that represent a qualitative addition and leave a clear and tangible impact in promoting the following values:

Social Coexistence

An interactive relationship in a shared environment, between different categories aiming at achieving mutual benefit or exchanging advantages, in an atmosphere of respect and cordiality.

National Character

Everything that reflects society's perceptions of its prevailing personal traits (citizens' perception of themselves), and these perceptions often tend towards positivity due to the fact that every society is in need for this.

Image of the Kingdom

A collection of impressions, perceptions, and relationships generated within a specific community through direct and indirect experiences concerning a subject or an object whose image is to be recognized and understood.

Tolerance

Respecting, appreciating, and accepting the other, regardless of whether this difference is of social, economic, or religious nature, without surrendering by the individual of their rights or beliefs, in a way that realizes harmony among members of society and aligns with accepted social standards according to the legislative and legal framework of the state.

National Identity

It is the religious, cultural, and linguistic framework of Saudi society and its traditions that are reflected in nurturing national memory, respecting national symbols, moderating bias, and reducing intolerance, thereby strengthening the cohesion, unity, solidarity, mutual support, and belonging of society to its nation.

Cultural Communication

Cultural communication between peoples to promote the values of tolerance and coexistence, respect for social and cultural diversity and shared human values based on the objectives of Islamic Sharia, and interaction with various cultures, civilizations, and common challenges to human values and achievements, to reach a vibrant and creative society.

Award Categories

The Civilizational Communication Award is presented in five categories, as follows:

Cultural Communication Award for Government Entities.
Cultural Communication Award for Government Entities. It is awarded to government institutions that have made a tangible contribution to promoting the values and concepts of the award.
Cultural Communication Award for Civil Society Organizations
Cultural Communication Award for Civil Society Organizations The prize for this category is awarded to honor civil society organizations promoting the values and concepts of the award.
Cultural Communication Award for International Non-Profit Organizations and Institutions.
Cultural Communication Award for International Non-Profit Organizations and Institutions. This category of the award honors international organizations that have contributed, through supporting or implementing programs, to promoting the values and concepts of the award within Saudi society, provided that they are headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Cultural Communication Award for the Private Sector
Cultural Communication Award for the Private Sector It is awarded for honoring private sector institutions that have participated through supporting or implementing programs that have had an impact on promoting the values and concepts of the award.
Cultural Communication Award for Individuals
Cultural Communication Award for Individuals The award is for honoring outstanding and innovative work by inspiring individuals from Saudi society, both citizens and residents, that promotes the values and concepts of the award.
